Purpose and operator

This personal tool is operated by the Google Cloud project owner to create school-progress reports for authorized family recipients. Contact: criddle469@gmail.com.

Information accessed

With the account owner’s authorization, the tool retrieves Canvas account identity, course enrollments, grading-period dates, grades, assignments, submission statuses, course announcements, and recent instructor messages. Linked attachments and announcement images are not inspected by the automated report.

The Gmail integration requests only permission to send email on the authorized user’s behalf. It does not request permission to read, search, or list Gmail messages or contacts. OAuth client information and refresh credentials are used to maintain authorized sending access.

Use and sharing

Canvas data is used to generate reports, identify assignment priorities, and compare grades and assignment statuses with the previous successful report. Reports are emailed only to the family recipients configured by the owner. Google Cloud processes the data to run the application and store private report state. Gmail processes report emails for delivery, and recipients’ email providers receive those emails.

The tool does not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use Google user data to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine-learning models. The automated reporting code produces reports without sending their contents to an AI model.

Blake Canvas Reports’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Storage and security

Cloud credentials are stored in Google Cloud Secret Manager. Report previews, run records, and the previous successful snapshot are stored in a private Google Cloud Storage bucket. Access is controlled through Google Cloud identities and permissions. These measures reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security.

Setup may temporarily create a Gmail credential file on the owner’s computer for transfer into Secret Manager. The owner should remove unneeded local credential copies after successful setup. This public website contains no school records or credentials.

Retention and deletion

The tool retains the previous successful report snapshot for comparison. Preview reports and run records remain in private storage until the owner deletes them or configures a storage lifecycle rule. Delivered email remains in sender and recipient mailboxes according to their settings; deleting cloud reports does not delete those email copies.

The owner may stop the schedule, delete stored reports and credentials, and revoke authorization. For assistance or a data-access/deletion request, contact the operator at the email above.

Control over access

Google authorization can be revoked in Google Account connections. Canvas access can be revoked through the account’s access-token settings. Revoking access stops future authorized retrieval or sending but does not erase previously delivered reports.

Children’s information and changes

School records may concern a minor. The tool is configured by an authorized adult for personal family use and does not offer public registration or solicit information from children through this website. Any material change to these practices will be reflected in this policy.
